Rare Creative Group has conducted many marketing projects for Isover, the insulation manufacturing operation within the Saint-Gobain group. Examples include branding and positioning of the Isover environmental credentials, a CERT campaign project in conjunction with E-On and various builders merchant groups, corporate publications and contractor direct mail campaigns.
In 2011 we were asked to create a plan to broaden the awareness and participation in the annual Isover Student Architectural Design competition. This competition challenges students on RIBA accredited architecture courses to design a building, within a specific location brief, to the standards of the Isover Multi-Comfort House concept. Multi-Comfort House is Isover’s interpretation of the Passivhaus concept.
Rare devised an initial campaign, using direct mail and an information pack to create awareness amongst university tutors, and engage them to encourage their students to enrol. Central to the competition itself was a website which we designed and built to act both as a site for information on Multi-Comfort House with a dedicated section devoted to the competition.
Students were provided with significant resources, including reference materials, filmed lectures and online seminars. E-mail and SMS communications were used to send reminders and alerts to competition events and milestones and the release of new resources.
All student entries were uploaded online and a dedicated judging portal was also built. Finally, a stand was created at Ecobuild to showcase the entries and announce the results. Services provided by Rare for the show included design, build and on site management. The results of the final judging were announced live at the show and streamed live in partnership with architects Journal.
The highly successful event saw record numbers enter the competition in two successive years
